Finally.....

It's over!!!!! This semester is finally over! I managed a high B. Not too bad with everything else going on. I got my assignment for next semester - I'll be at Sutter with Rose B. I hear she is wonderful, if a bit strict. But, HEY, I could use a little reigning in every once in a while. Looks as though the new study system is working well. Now I just have to pack out this semester and make way for the next. Oh, and move the desk (Annually shuffling of the stuff. Remember that game with the little squares on a board, and one was missing, and you could only move four directions to get everything in place. It's something like that.)

Now for the knitting. Yes, I did buy some victory yarn yesterday. I've got this whole moebius-strip-felted-basket thing going on. Got to organize the yarn over the break, too. It's amazing how the stuff managed to find it's way to my desk. I swear, I had nothing to do with it. But one day I found 3 different projects on my desk. I think the stuff grows legs and walks there on it's own.

Just for the record, root canals are to be avoided at all costs. Just in case you were wondering.

Well, it's off to school. Yes, school. I have a test to take. This one is for practice, it does not count. When facing a $350 liscensure exam, all practice tests are a god send. And when they are free, they're a gift. Gotta Go.

One more lecture

Just one more lecture. My yarn is calling me. So many things to knit. But wait, I must study. Finals on Monday. Then yarn, glorious yarn....

Four weeks to go

Only four weeks, two exams, 4 peds days and one med-surg day, one nursing care plan and one resume/cover letter to go and the 3rd semester is over!!!! Sounds like less than it really is. Knitting is out the window. Winter break, baby. Good thing I can't get CTS again (giggle). Hubby's shoulder is still baaaaaaaad. Waiting, waiting, waiting. May as well be pregnant (no offense, Mimm). Quit work today. Okay, gave notice. It will be worth it. Nursing around the corner.

Are we there yet???

Okay, half way through the semester. Two tests down, not doing bad. ACLS finished, passed. I can now run a code, can't push drugs or shock, but I can tell others to (in theory).

Hubby saw the othopod. Shoulder not good. Bone spur on the acromion. Now wonder it hurts. We'll see what happens next week at the next visit.

Presently shuffling the desk. What a mess!!!!

Up to my eyeballs

Yep, it's one of those weeks. I'm up to my eyeballs in school. Sometime in the next 10 days, I have to finish a care plan, study for and take a midterm, take my ACLS (advanced cardiac life support) class, and attend lectures and clinicals. Oh, and my husband is out on a shoulder injury, so I have to track down the insurance adjuster and get the orthopedist approved so we can get that taken care of. Needless to say, he's not working, or even able to keep up things around the house. I've made myself a detailed schedule (that I have yet to really follow), and I scheduled in knitting time.

Projects at the top of the list: a sweater for a small someone, a hat for a friend, and a shawl for me.

YESSSSSSS!

Okay, maybe all this riding of the bicycle is paying off. I am down to 200 pounds (from about 230 this time last year). This means that my scrubs hang a bit looser, and well, I have a waist. Cool.

Not doing much knitting right now. Got an 88 on Med-Surg and an 84 on Peds last week. Must improve that. Back to diabetes complications. Talk to you soon.

Let the Rambling begin.....

So many lists, so little time. It's frustrating to see how this country is pulling itself apart. The anger is just too much. Many of the lists I subscribe to have people attacking each other for having an opinion. We all feel helpless. We all feel for the people in the South. But is attacking each other getting us anywhere? It's getting me depressed, that's for sure. Not attacking anyone in particular here, but what gives. Many mistakes were made, many. On ALL sides. No one person is to blame, yet everyone is. Why did those people have to languish for 5 days before getting help. Did we not learn from the Tsunami at Christmas? We sure as heck made fun of the "3rd world' nations for not being able to protect their people!!! Less than a year later, and we did no better. It's disgusting. And now listening to people fight over what now amounts to armchair quarterbacking. Get off you asses people and help someone.

Nursing school and knitting.........Mutually exclusive?

StringAttack

School started last week, and while I am thrilled to be back, I am noticing a few things.
1 - I don't want to get spun up. I like the laid back feeling I've acquired over the summer.
2 - I don't have as much time to spend with hubby. Hopefully, knitting him a hat will remind him that I care.
3 - When one is a kinetic learner, knitting and studying are mutually exclusive activites.

I am 2 weeks behind on my mystery shawl. What I have done is gorgeous. And yes I signed up for the next one. Can we say glutton for punishment?

Oh, well, back to cardiac care.......

Mystery Shawl Clue 1

StringAttack
After a breif bit of confusion (reverse engineering is a pain), we finally got off and running yesterday. Tonight I finished clue 1. This is a gorgeous pattern. I can hardly wait for clue 2. Only 5 days to go.....

StringAttack

StringAttack

The Mystery Shawl along starts today. Clues downloaded, chores done, and not to attack the needles. I'm using Zephyr in the color BLueberry. We'll see how it goes.

School starts in two short (very short weeks). Have I done my homework yet. Nope. Time to go knit.

What was I thinking?

Okay, so I started a blog. I hope people are patient with me. I'm new at this. (grovelling complete)

I am a nursing student entering the second and last year of the program. But my passion is lace. I make lace. Knitting, crochet, bobbin, tatting, Hardanger, pulled thread, reticello, teneriffe. Always looking for more. More string, more patterns, more lace.

I hope to post regularly, sometimes to keep my sanity. Mostly to show off my stuff (when I remember to take pictures).
